Who We Are

We are a gathering of rank-and-file citizens and taxpayers of California who understand the corrupt political machine that has made politicians accountable to public employee unions, not voters.  Leaders of our campaign include those who were named as proponents in the effort to put the Citizen Power Initiative on the ballot in 2010:

Mark Meckler is an attorney with 20 years of experience in business and real estate law.  He became involved in the tea party movement in February 2009, and now serves as a National Coordinator, California Co-Coordinator and Sacramento Organizer for the Tea Party Patriots. He also now serves as one of the four State Coordinators for the Citizen Power Campaign.

Mark Bucher has been actively involved in politics since the 1993 Proposition 174 school choice campaign, when he acted as the volunteer coordinator for Orange County. He founded the Education Alliance, a group dedicated to assisting school board candidates who are independent of education unions. He also authored and ran Proposition 226 campaign, which would have required unions to receive permission to use their members’ dues for political purposes, and has had extensive experience running other statewide ballot initiatives.

Dawn Wildman spent a decade in the property management business and running her own company and began volunteering in 2007 for various state and national campaigns. She started a Tea Party organization in San Diego in February 2009. Dawn continues to organize Tea Party activities in San Diego, and now serves as the Co-Coordinator for the California Tea Party Patriots and on the National Board of Tea Party Patriots.

Lawrence Sand is a recently retired school teacher who began his career in New York in 1971.  He taught elementary school as well as English, math, history and ESL at a middle school in Los Angeles, where he also served for two years as a Title 1 Coordinator.  He is the president of the California Teachers Empowerment Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to getting information to teachers that they will not get from their school districts or unions.

Allan R. Mansoor is an Orange County Deputy Sheriff who was elected to the Costa Mesa City Council in 2002. As a council member, he has focused on getting back to the basics of good city government -- fiscal responsibility, infrastructure repair and reducing crime.  As a deputy sheriff, he has worked in the Men’s Central Jail and patrol in the unincorporated part of Orange County.  He is currently running for State Assembly to represent the 68th District.
